
The UN compiled a rating of the fastest enduring cities in the world. The list of 28 positions includes 11 Russian cities. Moreover, the “leader” in extinction was Nizhny Novgorod, who took the fifth line in the ranking, reports Business Insider .
During the study period from 1990 to 2025, based on existing indicators, the city population should decrease by 11.76%.
Nizhny Novgorod follows Saratov (6th place with negative dynamics of 11.54%), Perm (9th place with 9.67%). In addition, St. Petersburg, Samara, Ufa, Voronezh, Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk were included in the list of rapidly dying cities.
At the same time, two “prize” places still went to Ukrainian cities: Dnepropetrovsk occupies the first position on the list, and the third - Donetsk. In total, five Ukrainian cities were in the ranking.
The second place went to Budapest. In addition, the UN list was replenished with such European cities as Rome, Milan, Prague, Bucharest, Turin. There are also two South Korean cities and one city from Liberia, Georgia, Armenia and Cuba.
