People don’t wear dirty boots to the conservatory. I was taught this as a child. You can play fun games in the fresh air with your classmates, such as "lightning", but if you have to go to the theater in the evening, then change clothes and wash yourself, because the theater has slightly different rules.
In today's society we get an eternal mix of rules. Some people dressed up as Cossacks are disrupting art exhibitions. This time, a performance in the St. Petersburg theater based on Nabokov’s novel “Lolita” was disrupted. The menacing letter, which was sent to various authorities, is accompanied by a list of signatures of characters unknown to me, united by one wording - “Cossacks of St. Petersburg.” I'm omitting the details. If we go straight to the summary, the performance is ruined.
Another version has arisen, which is defended even by very sensible people: that the theater itself did all this - both the letter and the fake Cossacks. He did it, they say, for the sake of PR. The number of supporters of the stupid version that everything that happens around is done solely for the sake of PR is growing in some geometric progression. Educated people who seemed smart to me convinced me that the “Pussy Riot” was also all just PR: when they come out after the “two-piece”, they will collect such world tours with concerts!
It’s not that I don’t believe in such PR versions. Even if this is a fake, then God bless it. This is something else that is fake. What’s important to me is not only who the “Cossacks of St. Petersburg” are (I wonder when the Cossack villages were based on the unsteady swampy soils of the “shelter of the wretched Chukhonts”?) - I don’t even understand this ridiculous formation in our time. Some costumed characters actually walk around in masquerade costumes, others even with bladed weapons. Hung with medals and orders. The last fact is not very clear to me at all: where do the awards come from? I asked one - so he answered with undisguised pride and arrogance that this was inherited from his grandfather and great-grandfather. So what right does he have to wear this, you ask? These are mummers. This is a real fake.
Yes, there was once Cossack prowess, there was a beautiful history, there were battlefields, there was the development of uninhabited lands, but that’s exactly what happened.
Just as at the opening of the Olympics in Sochi we will be delighted by mermaids, heroes and other folklore characters, so the Cossacks are the same mythology. No more.
Such letters should be ignored and not responded to at all. As well as ignoring those leaders who suddenly refer to these folkloric mummery elements as supposedly a serious force. We have one southern regional leader who even allows Cossack patrols. It turns out that he is also not a leader, but a fake?
