In defense of the "teachers"

Today they routinely shout about “worthless” teachers who do not know how to earn money and are unworthy of working with children. In the opinion of many, the most gray individuals go to school, those who are not capable of anything else. If men are generally losers, alcoholics and perverts.

At the same time, the majority of Russians still place Soviet demands on schools to be the cornerstone in the education of the younger generation. In this understanding, no matter what happens to the children , the school is to blame. People continue to live with ideas of an era that has not existed for two decades. But during this time, the fundamental foundations of Russian education have changed, and they did not even notice.

The school (and this is enshrined in all regulatory documents) provides educational services. She teaches, including assisting in the upbringing of the child, but the key role in the upbringing process was taken away from her a long time ago.

In the 90s, there was no talk at all about the educational function of schools, but a wave of asocial manifestations among young people forced the authorities to later partially return to the Soviet experience. Only again (as elsewhere) more in declarations than in reality. Accordingly, the school has been deprived of almost all means of influence on the child, except for words.

The school does not have the right to involve a student in even the slightest labor, including elements of self-service - a violation of rights. From the first grade, a child in school is a consumer, and teachers like hairdressers, waiters, and cleaners are representatives of the service sector. That’s why parents’ fists often knock in the principal’s office: “But they should...”

The teacher does not have the right to speak harshly to the student, throw him out the door, or apply any other punishment. The teacher (in 90% of cases - a woman) himself is defenseless against hooligans. He can’t give a “D” today, because proceedings with the administration will follow - why would schools with a population of a thousand people produce 100% academic performance for years?!

How defenseless the administration itself is often. The school itself bears responsibility for the child’s misdeeds committed at school. In practice today it is impossible to recover damages for damaged desks, broken glass, broken appliances, etc. In fact, it is now impossible to bring a school bully to serious responsibility - the school cannot isolate anyone from him, and he continues to terrorize his peers for years, the school cannot expel him or expel him.

In Russia, a fairly large network of structures has been created that should work on crime prevention, under the police and administrations. Just who has seen their representatives in schools?

In the old fashioned way, the problems of children continue to be dealt with exclusively by the school, because there are still, despite any external circumstances, many people working there by vocation. True, the school can only convince. But her word, unlike in Soviet times, does not find support either in the media, or in books, or in the public consciousness, or in parental attitudes. The prevailing position is: “These “poor, ineffective, downtrodden” people still dare to open their mouths?”

Only if you place these critics - strong and courageous people, self-confident and wealthy heroes - as a powerless teacher in the classroom, then they will be taken out from the very first lesson. Or there will be a slap on the wrist with a loud criminal future. But the weak and skinny “losers” come and then stick around for decades, because it’s them that children follow in droves, praise is expected from them and their word is listened to.

Despite the fact that the effectiveness of the word in our time is extremely low. Who today, tell me, can be convinced with a word? The cruelty of punishment - yes, the wild fine - yes. And in a word? What can convince those impenetrable adult foreheads that recognize nothing but their money and pleasures for white and loose bodies? What convinces millions of thieves and murderers? However, for the time being, a graduate of a pedagogical institute, a “fragile mediocrity,” coped with them, and after that, no one, nothing, and never.

The school as a whole cannot be an order of magnitude better than the community in which it is located. It suffers from the same social ills as everywhere else. If hypocrisy, lies and corruption are widespread, then they cannot not exist at all in school. Of course, on a smaller scale due to the specifics, but this is not the main thing. The main thing is that there are few of them there, while there are these “gray mice” who cannot shine with expensive clothes and brilliant lovers.

Those who do not exclusively profess the commandments of a person who somehow adapts to the existing rules of modern capitalism. Who reserves the right to respect for ascetics, hermits, fighters for social justice, simply for eccentrics who give to others everything they manage to earn - after all, the world without them will be much less attractive and beautiful than with them. Admiral Nakhimov spent almost his entire life on deck, spent his salary on the needs of the fleet and sailors, and did not even create a family. Is his biography really less of a cause for admiration than the tens of millions of rubles accumulated by this or that merchant?

Who claims that sleeping on a wooden bench with your hand under your head is happiness (Confucius said something like that). That happiness is a category that cannot be measured. That neither success, nor intelligence, nor wealth, nor anything else truly important and valuable can replace what is absolutely priceless for us - parents, children, close friends, love, health, inner harmony with one’s own conscience - by maintaining this, you can lose everything and remain happy .

Yes, teachers often lack enterprise and ingenuity. And in this the school is conservative, as well as in the fact that it still preaches honesty, decency, kindness, generosity, generosity - moral qualities that, as a rule, do not bring anything into the bag.

But if a person does not hear such things at school, then perhaps he will never hear them anywhere again. If at school a person does not see that moderation, modesty and sensitivity are completely compatible with a depth of mind, a big heart, a beautiful soul, and a strong spirit, then he is not destined to see this at all.

When this does not happen, then, probably, the long-promised end of the world will come. Because the mass of narcissists, bogged down in pride, goons and snobs is a sheen of conceit, artificial and leading to blindness. Children need light - warm, affectionate, bright.
