Microsoft's Corporation decided to strike piracy in China. The new Windows 8 operating system in this country will not be sold in the boxed version. Users will be able to either download the system from the developer’s website, or get it in a pre -installed form with a new computer. Everything else will be considered a pirate copy, reports CyberSecUmy.ru .
If the experience is recognized as successful, then the company can extend it to other countries with a high level of piracy, in particular to Russia and India.
In Microsoft itself, the conducted operation is called the simplification of distribution channels. The corporation says that physical media with Windows 8 will remove from sale and will observe the consequences of this solution.
Windows 8 officially all over the world is released on Friday this week. Together with it is the tablet version of Windows RT, and three days after this release, the formal Windows Phone 8 will be held.
Until now, Microsoft has fought with piracy in China in traditional ways - police raids, educational campaigns and popularizing the idea of a leycense in as such. However, despite the fact that the pirate Windows can still not only be freely buying not only on the streets of Chinese cities, it can be delivered for symbolic money in a computer store.
Independent experts welcome the company's step, but doubt its high efficiency, since consumers of pirate Windows both in China and in other countries perfectly understand that they work with unlicensed software.
