The Microsoft Corporation officially introduced the Windows Phone 8 mobile platform, RIA Novosti reports.
The launch of the new Windows Phone platform took place two years after the predecessor-Windows Phone 7. At the event that Microsoft held at San Francisco on Monday was the Vice President of Joe Belphior and Microsoft general director Steve Balmer. Microsoft top managers showed the platform functionality and announced the release dates of the first WP8-Smartphones on the market.
The first smartphones using WP8 are the Lumia 822 Nokia and Windows Phone 8x from HTC. New items will go to European stores on November 3, and in the USA and other countries they will appear within a month.
When developing the mobile "Operation", Microsoft refused the Windows CE architecture, building a new version of the NT nucleus. It also has a "eight" for desktop computers. Moreover, WP8-Smartphones use the same file system, technology for working with media, devices drivers and, partially, a security system as Windows 8.
The mobile "eight" received new functions as parental control, personalization of the lock screen and the use of Internet data. In addition, there is support for multiducid processors, three different screen resolutions (800x480, 1280x720 and 1280x768), Microsd memory cards and NFC chips. In connection with many changes made "under the hood", smartphones with the previous version of the OS - Windows Phone 7 - will not be able to update to WP8.
The new user interface in WP8 is now called not Metro UI, but "Live Tiles". As in Windows 8, in the smartphones "tiles" the role of labels for launching programs is played. They can also act as widgets and show the number of SMS or missed calls.
So far, about 120 thousand applications have been created for the new Microsoft mobile platform.
