The director of the Murom orphanage will answer in court for bullying teenagers
The director of the Murom orphanage N1, Martin Sargsyan, will appear in court on charges of exceeding official powers with the use of violence and the threat of its use (clause a, part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the Vladimir Region reported in Wednesday.
According to the case materials, 21 pupils of the orphanage suffered from the actions of M. Sargsyan at different times.
According to investigators, for various offenses the director beat the pupils, including with chairs, books and a kettle, pushed, insulted and threatened them.
At the same time, M. Sargsyan suppressed any attempts by the orphanage residents to complain against him.
So, in 2002, after a 15-year-old pupil of the orphanage filed a complaint with the local administration, the director began to threaten the children with violence. Three teenagers, fearing punishment, ran away from the orphanage and spent the night in the basements and attics of residential buildings. When they returned, M. Sargsyan beat them in the middle of the night and then took them in his car to the territory of the city cemetery. “The director of the orphanage threw an audio cassette at the boys’ feet with the phrase: “Dig your own grave.” Upon returning to the orphanage, the teenagers were placed under lock and key for several days in unused rooms in the shower room and basement,” the press service notes.
At the request of the investigator, in December 2011, the court removed M. Sargsyan from his position.
