In Novokuznetsk, a teacher who participated in the elections of the Coordination Council was fired
A teacher at the Novokuznetsk branch of Kemerovo State University (Kemerovo region), Anton Voloshin, who was previously a member of the regional election committee (RVC) to the Coordination Council of the Opposition (CCO), was dismissed from the university for “activities incompatible with the status of a teacher,” the director of the branch, Vladimir Gershgorin, told Interfax.
He clarified that A. Voloshin’s dismissal is not related to his membership in the election committee.
“I met with him, talked and explained that he has every opportunity to participate in any constitutional activity, but at the same time understand that the teacher does not have the right to carry out political activities within the walls of the university, and so on,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
He emphasized that A. Voloshin had repeatedly received information from the “competent authorities.” Once again, such information came, according to V. Gershgorin, from the rector of Kemerovo State University Vladimir Volchek.
“He suggested that I should not keep such a teacher at the university,” the agency’s interlocutor added.
V. Gershgorin also noted that there are materials on the Internet that negatively characterize A. Voloshin and, from the point of view of the requirements for university teachers, are “really unacceptable.”
At the same time, on the page on the VKontakte social network dedicated to the elections to the Constitutional Court of the opposition in Novokuznetsk, it is reported that this measure is regarded as repression.
“We, too, have begun repressions. Today, the director of the KemSU branch called Anton Voloshin, a member of our RVC - he works there as a teacher, and offered to resign of his own free will - he said that the call was from the rector of KemSU,” the message says.
On October 22, elections to the Opposition Coordination Council ended. Voting took place on the Internet and at polling stations organized in almost all regions of Russia, as well as in seven cities abroad. A total of 209 candidates were registered on the website of the Central Election Committee (CEC), from which 45 members of the CSR were selected. Following the election results, the Council included Alexei Navalny, Dmitry Bykov, Garry Kasparov, Ksenia Sobchak, Ilya Yashin, and other opposition activists and journalists. According to the Central Election Commission, about 82 thousand Russian citizens voted in the elections.
