Renault and Caterham will survive the Alpine brand

The French car manufacturer Renault and the British company Caterham will be engaged in the design and production of sports cars as part of a joint project, Prime reports with reference to the press service of the French company.

Production capacities will be in French Dieppe.

Caterham acquires a 50% share in Automobiles Alpine Renault, 100% of which belongs to Renault.

The new joint venture (SP) will be formally created in January 2013, it will be headed by 60-year-old Bernard Olivier, who has been working in Renault since 1977 and holding the post of vice president of the company since January 2011.

Caterham and Renault, as expected, will have its own versions of the supercar: Renault will work on the compartment, and Caterham - on the open modification of the car, writes Carobka.ru .

Each car manufacturer will have its own tuning of cars, perhaps the main body panels, the chassis settings will even differ, but the layout will remain reinforcing.

Renault Alpine can get an engine that will produce about 250 hp.

The option from Caterham, we can assume, will receive a 200-horsepower engine with a volume of 1.6 liters with direct fuel injection, or a two-liter unit with a capacity of 265 hp.

The release of the first cars is scheduled for the next three to four years.
