Participants in a scientific and practical conference held in Rostov approved the updated Strategic Plan for the socio-economic development of the city until 2025, the press service of the mayor’s office reported. In its original version, the plan was adopted by the City Duma in October 2009, however, as its main developer, Director of the North Caucasus Research Institute of Economic and Social Problems of Southern Federal University, Professor Alexander Druzhinin, noted in his report, over the past time there has been a need to update it. For example, the achieved level of socio-economic development of the Don capital in a number of cases exceeded the values of basic indicators, and for some of them it approached the values planned to be achieved in 2015 and 2020. This, in particular, relates to the pace of development of the consumer market and the social sphere, as well as the growth of citizens’ incomes and entrepreneurial activity. In addition, unlike the previous edition, the emphasis is placed not on the regional, but on the federal significance of Rostov. By making adjustments, the developers decided to move away from the previously mentioned three scenarios for the city’s development - negative, inertial and positive. In the new version of the Strategy, the negative option is not considered in principle. The emphasis is on the innovative scenario, considered as the only acceptable one, since it is based on accelerated growth in all important indicators and the integration of Rostov into the global economy. The strategy will be finalized taking into account the recommendations voiced at the meeting of the city administration board and during the scientific and practical conference. In particular, it will reflect the proposals of the regional Government. After this, public hearings will be organized, following which the wishes of Rostov residents will be included in the document. The final version of the updated document is planned to be adopted in December this year at a meeting of the City Duma.
