“There are some planes flying across the sky all day. They are probably taking someone on vacation to Pattaya.”
Igor Rasteryaev
I was in this Pattaya of yours. If I had hell and Pattaya, then I would live in hell and rent out Pattaya.
Appearance: the town both in appearance and in climate resembles South Tel Aviv. The Israelis will understand what we are talking about. Straight streets, architectural chaos of garages, shops, hotels, concrete boxes, almost no greenery, dirt. A lot of advertising that covers up the ugliness of this “city”. Architectural and historical monuments are absent.
Climate: incredible heat combined with humidity. In colonial times, Europeans were smart enough to live in the tropics in the mountains rather than on the coast. Now, apparently, they have become dull. The sea is much dirtier than in Egypt, both in Pattaya itself and on the nearby islands.
Population: traders, prostitutes, travel service workers.
You will laugh, but this stinking little place is called a RESORT. From my vacations in my sunny Soviet childhood, the resort was associated with greenery, sights, mineral waters (very vile in taste), and a beautiful sea. There is none of this here, but every day dozens of buses bring hordes of tourists from Russia to the doors of Pattaya hotels. One can, of course, assume that we are talking about alcoholics hungry for blackjacks and whores, but many vacationers come with children and then take them along the embankment past hordes of prostitutes! And the Internet is flooded with enthusiasm for a “fantastic holiday in the land of smiles.” It seems that our taste in tourism has deteriorated greatly over the past 20 years. And something needs to be done about this. You also need to relax culturally.
