Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery
An Orthodox monastery founded in 1371 in a bend of the Vologda River by the disciple of Sergius of Radonezh, Saint Demetrius of Prilutsky. One of the oldest and largest monasteries in the Russian North. It was closed by the Soviet government in 1926 and was used as a transit prison in the 1930s. In 1992, it was completely returned to the church, and since then it has been a newly functioning monastery.
