After the new fantastic series “Revolution”/Revolution on the NBC channel, which was falling on the USA, unexpectedly turned out to be superior in life than in the cinema - because you can’t run out of the visual room and do not turn off the TV or monitor. The 21st century, technology, people on different continents - at the distance of an outstretched arm, more precisely, mobile phones. And suddenly, in the financial capital of the world, in a city literally stuffed with the achievements of civilization, tens of thousands without light, with candlelights, the dead metro, rising elevators in skyscrapers, non -working phones, dark streets, moving from door to door lamps. Almost a model situation. The creators of the series "Revolution" /Revolution on the American NBC brought this story to Qatharsis: what happens to a modern person when he is deprived of the benefits of civilization? In short: nothing good.

Middle Ages

“We lived in the world of electricity. We rely on him in everything. And then the energy disappeared. Everything stopped. And we were not ready for this ... ” - says a sunbathing voice at the very beginning of the first series. Global power outage is not only in America, but throughout the world. And this is not just Blackout, as it was in the USA in 2003, when 50 million were left without light-all the laws of physics flew to hell. Neither diesel generators, nor gasoline, nor batteries can help. And now 15 years have passed: the state fell apart, people left the cities and returned to natural economy. In the first months after turning off energy, chaos reigned in society: almost according to Hobbes, everyone went to war against all. As a result, several authoritarian states have developed on the territory of America: the Georgia Federation, the Plain Nation, the Republic of Texas, the California Commonwealth, a desert country and, finally, the Republic of Monroe, headed by a natural dictator from former marines, appeared on the map. In the “republic”, unauthorized actions are strictly monitored, firearms are prohibited, and what remained, the self -proclaimed defenders of the order - the police detachments. Ordinary people cost knives, crossbows and sabers. Which, however, makes it possible for the creators of the series to entertain the viewer with spectacular scenes of battles. In short, the world returned to the Middle Ages.

But the picture of the post -apocalyptic world is not as gloomy as, for example, in the cable series of the AMS channel “Walking Dead”/The Walking Dead. NBS did not need a second zombie apocalypse. Therefore, in the "Revolution" the new world is deceptive to environmental utopia: the cities were filled with violent vegetation, people returned to natural life in nature. All the characters are slim, fit, with clean skin, and girls with beautiful long hair that do not prevent them from fighting on equal terms with men. Clean air, natural food, and apparently survived the strongest and most healthy.

But still, the technology is the fetish of the series. People who are professionally engaged in science fiction, like J. J. Abrams (“survived”/lost, Alcatraz/Alcatraz) and John Favro (“Iron Man”/Iron Man), who make this series, cannot believe in the victory of a radical ecologism. The technology has not disappeared anywhere, it just turned out to be hidden from people. Here and there in the “Revolution” there will be a computer assembled from improvised details (where to go from the obsessive thought that there should be a network somewhere), then an antique steam locomotive that is spitting to launch Monroe. That suddenly the screen of a long -disconed iPhone will revive for a moment, as if from the air caught electricity. The technology is like a ghost that Monroe is chasing, still believing that you can find that switch and turn on normal life back. The fact that the catastrophe is man-made, and therefore reversible, is also believed by the former computed by a millionaire Aron, who was unsuitable for a new life, feeling that he had been thrown back into childhood, when he was terrorized by hooligans in the courtyard. In addition, in the “Revolution” there is an underground patriotic resistance, whose goal is to return the United States. Monroe’s police are especially cruel with them, and the star-striped flag is the dream of Prokhanov-the forbidden artifact, which patriots secretly keep at home (hello to the “postman” Kevin Costner).

However, the youth like the main characters-Charlie and Danny Matison (this family is somehow connected with turning off the electricity, in front of Blackout their father Ben managed to download something to the mysterious flash drive, and all their misadventures) almost does not remember life during civilization. Charlie, who has lost his parents, cannot afford such luxury as concern about global projects, she chooses one single goal-to save her brother’s Monroe, who was captured by the police, and mobilizes everyone else for her. She is like an antigon at Sophocles, stubbornly going to her goal. But even among universal pragmatism, she alone is preoccupied with moral law. Sometimes her resonance irritates the viewer configured to the frivolous adventurous adventure spirit. The "revolution" loves to put heroes in a situation of existential choice and sometimes does it too intrusive and heavy.

“Revolution” is simpler than the cult project of Abrams “to stay alive”/lost. However, the main trump card of the series is that in the minds of modern man the real fear of the fact that one day everything can bend down. And a normal life, which without elevators, mobile phones, an endless stream of information is difficult to imagine, will suddenly end at once.
