Six members of the banned terrorist organization Islamic Renaissance Party have been detained in Moscow. They recruited supporters in mosques.
In Moscow, the activities of a cell of the international religious organization "Islamic Renaissance Party", which is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia, have been suppressed. Six active members of the group were detained, according to the website of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As a result of operational search activities, the police established that the leaders and active participants of the organization conducted active recruitment activities on the territory of Moscow mosques, and were also involved in distributing extremist literature and involving other persons in illegal activities.
“In total, during operational activities in Moscow, six active members of the group were detained. Searches were carried out at their places of residence, during which nine military grenades, weapons, ammunition, extremist literature, as well as manuals on recruitment and propaganda of radical ideas of Islam were discovered and seized ", a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Interfax .
