The Supreme Court did not satisfy the appeal, in which LGBT activists demanded to invalidate changes to the Administrative Code of the Kostroma Region, punishing “public actions aimed at promoting homosexuality (sodomy and lesbianism), bisexuality, and transgenderism among minors.” The decision was published on the official website of the court, reports K1News.Ru .

Changes to the law were adopted by deputies of the Kostroma Regional Duma in December last year. There are fines for propaganda: for citizens - 5,000 rubles, for officials - 50,000 rubles, legal entities - 100,000 rubles.

“During all this time (since December), we have not had any cases of prosecution for promoting same-sex relationships,” commented the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kostroma Region.

Similar laws were adopted in Arkhangelsk, St. Petersburg, and Ryazan.
