A primitive homemade pyrotechnic device went off near the Belarusian KGB headquarters in Vitebsk. There were no injuries, three people were detained.

On the evening of November 11 in Vitebsk, an explosion occurred near the building of the regional KGB department on Sovetskaya Street, 18. “A primitive homemade pyrotechnic device was detonated near the KGB headquarters in the Vitebsk region. A criminal case was opened and three people were detained,” the Information and Public Relations Center of the KGB of Belarus told the Interfax agency.

According to preliminary data, the device was a cardboard or plastic tube filled with 50-70 grams of a pyrotechnic mixture and placed in a metal can with a capacity of 0.25-0.33 liters without damaging elements. It was activated by arson.

“As a result of urgent investigative actions and based on the testimony of witnesses, three people were detained, one of whom, with external signs of deviations from normal behavior, had previously made telephone calls to the KGB with incorrect statements addressed to the authorities,” the department’s Center for Information and Public Relations reported.

A criminal case was initiated under the article “Hooliganism”.

An operational investigation team is working at the scene of the incident.
