Vitaly Milonov, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, the initiator of laws against sexual minorities, has recently become almost the main person of the northern capital of Russia. What drives him —The new Times went to find out at the scene
The Mariinsky Palace, built by Nikolai I for his daughter Mary, strictly looks at Isaac's Square: colonnades, pilasters along the entire pediment, slightly carving on stone - strictly and majestically. A bourgeois Provisional Government worked here, and now here, on the second floor, the office of the deputy Milonov, the main guardian of morality and morality of the city. Copper horseman of Putin.
Passport, pass, assistant, narrow staircase, high ceilings, painted walls - there was no trace of imperial greatness. The office of the Chairman of the Committee on Legislation Vitaly Milonov is two small rooms: in one-assistants, five or six people, in the second-he himself. You already see from the threshold: this is the cabinet of the church servant of the people. There is no familiar portrait of Putin, but many icons are hung along the walls, and the iPhone calls with Orthodox chants - not only with Milonov, but also with assistants.
Milonov is thirty -eight, he is a medium height, full of a gray suit, a blue shirt, tightly pulling his stomach that is tearing outward: it seems that he would have gone more like a cassock. The image is completed by the whitish deacon beard. Says Milonov calmly, quietly, a little burnt. And with absolute confidence in his rightness. He almost does not look at the interlocutor, is not inclined to emotions, unless it comes to two topics of his beloved topics - the Church and homosexuals. Before the first, he bow deeply, the latter hates with all his soul.
God to the deputy to help

| “Homosexuality is only in repentance,” says Vitaly Milonov |
Milonov came to religion at 17: in 1991, when he began to go to meetings of gospel Christians. In 1998, when he was already giving hopes to a young politician, he was baptized and was accepted at the Board of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“The church is an unconditional moral rod,” says Milonov. - If the church says to leave the deputies, I will leave. He will say everything, I will give. ” In his opinion, it is the Russian Orthodox Church who should save Russia: “The gates of hell overcome this country. But they cannot overcome the church. Or do you want us to have, as in Sweden? There, the gates of hell overcome the church. Bishop Stockholma is a aunt, and even a lesbian. Sweden, like a ship with scattering boards. Everything will die there now. I do not want my children to be in such a country. We, people living here, for the most part are not liberals. Fortunately for us it can only be with God. ”
It was the concern for people who made Milonov with the Board of the banner rise to fight homosexuals, this, in his expression, “abominations”, the main threat, to protect against which the church can only wait for help from? “The attack has already gone to us,” he says. “I am like a guy in a trench.” Milonov says about gays constantly, although there are other “abomes” - energy with alcohol and hookah, which should be banned, and migrants who sell it all in their kiosks are approximately punished. “I will give them like cockroaches, although it is sometimes very difficult,” the deputy complains. “Liberasts and Tolerasts” living with the money of the State Department, “homosexuals, old goats, dovec uses, hamadrils, fagots, karek” - vocabulary of a deputy of the Legislative Assembly. At the same time, Vitaly Valentinovich sincerely believes that he does not violate anyone's rights at all: “There is nothing to do with homosexuals, we only guard the children from their stench.” At this place, he recalls the Christian love for his neighbor, but this is given to him with difficulty. “I love these people, let them are mistaken now, they are blind, their demons are pushing to dance in their underpants, kiss, lick their asses. Ugh! When the sulfur spans on them, I won’t be surprised at all, ”Milonov, saying this, was so nervous - saliva from his mouth that I wanted to get up and bring the deputy of the water.
The defense front of deputy Milonov is not limited to the adoption of homophobic laws. Together with assistants, he catches potential pedophiles on social networks and transfers them to the police. “Look at this goat, leaving the bouquet to the 13-year-old boy,” Milonov shows a photo on his iPhone. The argument that pedophilia and homosexuality are things of different order, the deputy does not convince: "70% of the detained perverts are homosexuals, like all the maniacs that I met." The logical ligament is simple: if all maniacs are homosexuals, then all homosexuals are maniacs.
It was easier: there is no homosexuals among the close environment of Vitaly Milonov - God mercy. And he does not worry about his children: “In a normal family, this practically does not happen if the parents are not Masha Gessen (...) or some men-perverts, whose Sodom cohabitation can do nothing but AIDS, syphilis and emergency death due to the fact that they conduct an antiproduct’s lifestyle.” But if this suddenly happens both the son of Martha or the daughter of Martha will come to him after some time with a terrible recognition, he will perceive it as a greater tragedy: “And the criminal investigation officer comes to some parents:“ Your son killed a person. ” Anyone happens. "

| 14 years ago, the liberal camp did not seem to be a rod of sin |
Vitaly Milonov was born in 1974 in Leningrad in a family of primary school teachers and a military man. He lived in a communal apartment next to the Moscow station: his mother, the elder brother, did not see his father often: he disappeared on foreign business trips, but where he went and what he did - then the press did not need to know. The institute did not happen after school: "I wanted to engage in politics, but it was not possible to combine." He did not get into the army: health problems. Which - again not for the press. He received the first higher education as a deputy: he graduated in 2006 by the North-Western Academy of Public Service, although the enemies say that then at least some diplomas did all politicians without education. But it is never too late to study: today he is a fifth year student of the Orthodox Holy Tikhon Humanitarian University in Moscow.
In 1996, 22-year-old Vitaly met with the future wife Eva Liburkina, a student of the Faculty of Philosophy of St. Petersburg State University, then Eve became a press secretary of Milonov’s “Young Christian Democrats” organized by Milonov. And so it goes nearby-both in life, and in work, and in the fight: she worked in the reception of her husband-deputy, and in June 2008 she became a member of the St. Petersburg election commission. In 2011, Milonov himself issued a proposal to terminate its powers: the deputy mandate obliged, and Eve was going on maternity leave. Now Eva Liburkina is engaged in the education of two children and two cats and, judging by the posts on the social network VKontakte, fully supports her husband in all his endeavors and beliefs. Spouses live in a two -room apartment in an ordinary factory district on a tram prospectus.
Liberal temptation
In politics, Milonov began as a liberal in 1991 in the free Democratic Party of Russia, whose co -chairs were Marina Salier and Lev Ponomarev. He got there by accident: a friend brought. He also accidentally ended up in the Russian Christian Democratic Union, where he was responsible for international relations: he only spoke English. Galina Starovoitova played a special role in the fate of Milonov. It was she in 1997 that first sheltered in her deputy reception, the Milon movement of the young Christian democrats, then made him his assistant and a year later she nominated to the St. Petersburg Sachs. “Galina Vasilyevna and I were in the same room. I often came across Milonov, ”recalls the State Duma deputy from“ democratic Russia ”Julius Rybakov. - Then he seemed to be a liberal, a man of free glances, did not think about anyone sexual orientation. What happened to him? I think this is rather not for me, but to psychiatrists. ”
Galina Starovoitov was killed on November 20, 1998, two weeks before the election, and Milonov immediately unexpectedly withdrew his candidacy in favor of Vadim Tulip, a candidate from "unity". The source of The New Times in the Legislative Assembly commented on this act: “He ran in the Yablichnikov district: there the current deputy was the first vice-governor of St. Petersburg Igor Artemyev. Tulipov was, one might say, a huckster, although someone would probably say: an entrepreneur. And then a “meeting on Elba” Milonov and Tulpanov took place, where the question was simply financially resolved: it’s not just that because the assistant Starovotova suddenly supports the “non -expert”. From 2003 to 2011, Vadim Tyulpanov - chairman of St. Petersburg Zaks, Vitaly Milonov - his faithful associate, since 2002 - a member of United Russia. Today he does not like to remember his democratic past and compares the liberals with the devil, seducing Christ to "abandon his historical tradition."
However, in liberality, and most importantly, Milonov’s sincerity, colleagues Galina Starovotova doubted 14 years ago. "When I saw this owl physiognomy, I asked:" Galya, what kind of stuffed man is? " - recalls the lawyer, human rights activist and friend of Starovoyova Yuri Schmidt. - She replied that this was her assistant, intelligent, obligatory person. But, in my opinion, she did not understand people very well, she was overly gullible. He was silent then more, before each bell tower he did not stand on his knees and did not express homophobic ideas. ” Yuri Schmidt is tormented by suspicions that in the team of Starovotova Milonov appeared not of his own free will: “His career is too incomprehensible. He has neither charisma nor mind in order to get a good place on the list of the party in power, and even the position of chairman of the committee. This must be earned, and then work out. I can’t prove this, this is my personal impression, but it seems to me that he was introduced, surrounded by Galina Vasilievna. ” The sister of Starovoitova Olga, at that time, her assistant: “If they had not killed her, she would have fired him, agree with this version. We all told her: “Galya, that you contacted him? It has some kind of cunning and meanness. Today he is a shame on our city. ”
However, if Galina Starovoitova really looked at the assistant, then Milonov knew where he was going. “No metamorphosis from Democrat to obscurantism happened. Just a person showed one side of his capabilities until the new time required the other. There are people who have no beliefs or eat, in the words of Mussolini, one thing: “Our program is simple. We want to rule, ”says Yuri Schmidt. “He tried it here and there,” Olga Starovoitova laughs. “The Communists will come, he will become a communist, if not an atheist.”
Peter against gays
The history of St. Petersburg homophobia did not begin with Milonov. The deputy of the previous convocation Yevgeny Marchenko spoke out for a return of criminal liability for homosexuality, also offering to prohibit the celebration of the Lovers Day and any flash mobs and gay parades. The LDPR deputy Elena Babich, who expelled spirits from the Mariinsky Palace in 2009, stated that in St. Petersburg the propaganda of homosexuality can be seen at every step: the chain of pharmacies “Rainbow” is an example.
“These topics have been discussed for a long time, but Green Street of the obscurantist initiatives of Milonov was opened with the advent of a strongly believing governor - Chekist Poltavchenko,” deputy Maxim Reznik told The New Times. “We used to do everything in the city with the Komsomol enthusiasm, and now with God's help.” As an example, Maxim Reznik cites the city teacher's council: “This is a social event, and here a pop is sitting on the presidium. Why, actually? But when I was indignant about this, Milonov wrote on Twitter that Reznik, they say, could not sit next to Bishop Ambrose, because he would have come from him, like from a demon, and he would go to a herd of pigs. ”
"
Perverts, whose Sodom cohabitation can do nothing except AIDS, syphilis and imminent death due to the fact that they lead an anti-type lifestyle
”If people who are far from politics often characterize Milonov as a local demoniac, his colleagues in the Zachs see a careerist in him.“ He is a demagogue, hangs stamps, often appeals not to arguments, but to rude raids. Speaking on the rostrum on the most ordinary issue, he suddenly begins to rush to “Yabloko” or “Fair Russia” with screams: “You are demons,“ You are demon. Your Antichrist of Dmitrieva will burn in hell. ”There is such a religious Zhirinovism,” says a colleague-deputy Reznik. do?" He replied that Poltavchenko called him twice, asked to advance. "
You can’t pardon
It should be noted: Milonov has succeeded. The topic of gays in the great city has become almost the most discussed. “Previously, everyone wanted to talk about migrants,” says lecturer Ekaterina Klimenko, the leading course “Culture of Tolerance” in one of the humanitarian universities. - In the past year and a half, they switched exclusively to gays, which they are actively not loved. Milonov did not undertake from an empty place: he reflects what the inhabitants really think. ” The professor of European University Vladimir Gelman also agrees with this point of view: “Our society is homophobic, and Milonov creates an informational noise, he screams loudly. But in Moscow in Milonov there are two dozen screaming on the other side - such as Dmitry Bykov. The point is not that there are a lot of Milonovs in St. Petersburg, the fact is that there are few bulls. ”
Petersburg homosexuals, it seems, does not even count on tolerance: they would not touch once again, and that is glorious. The bars are not yet closed, but the Gay magazine “Quir” has stopped selling after the adoption of the law. In the gay bar, the "Oystz" Milonov knows everyone and talk about him with undisguised disgust. “They always treated gays, but since the article was canceled for homosexuality, I hoped that everything would slowly change for the better,” says Mikhail, the owner of a small business, who had just celebrated the eighteous anniversary of life together with a boyfriend, whom he has long called her husband. “Now we don’t want to live either in this city or in this country.” “When this topic was discussed, we did not believe that the law would be accepted, so we didn’t even go out for protest,” Roma’s friend echoes him. “Now they began to relate worse about gays.”
Deputy Milonov simply answers this: “The society should fight with this abomination. There are prostitutes, there are fallen people, there are homosexuals, these people are sick with spiritual diseases. It is only in repentance. ” Vitaly Milonov himself dreams of someday to leave the sinful secular world: he is thinking of taking a dignity.
You can only wish him to Petersburgers to happen sooner.
