On Thursday, Krylia Sovetov head coach Andrei Kobelev submitted his resignation. She was accepted by the leadership of the Samara club. The entire coaching staff will leave the club along with the head coach. The reason is the club’s unsatisfactory results in the first round of the Russian Premier League championship.

The official website of “Wings of the Soviets” reported that the management of the football club thanked Andrei Kobelev for everything he did for the club and accepted his resignation. “Andrey Kobelev became the face of the long-awaited changes in the club, took responsibility for the fate of the team, but, unfortunately, the first half of the 2012–2013 season did not turn out in the best way for Krylia Sovetov,” the message says. In turn, Andrei Kobelev thanked the leaders of “Wings of the Soviets”, the team’s players and club employees, as well as all Samara fans for their cooperation and support. Alexander Tsygankov was appointed acting head coach.

And the diagnosis that the head coach made for himself and his work in the year of the 70th anniversary of our club. After all, it was Kobelev who assembled this composition. And it was he who said that he was generally satisfied with the selection and was even ready to compete for a place in the top six. In a situation where, as a result of targeted coaching work, we really do not have a team and no leaders, but only a set of individual players, we consider Kobelev’s resignation necessary and inevitable.” However, the chairman of the board of directors of Krylya Sovetov, Alexei Chigenev, refused to dismiss Andrei Kobelev.
