State tests of the strategic nuclear submarine missile cruiser "Alexander Nevsky" of Project 955 "Borey" will take place in December 2012. reports this RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of OJSC Sevmash.

According to the company's press service, the submarine recently went to sea for factory sea trials. It was planned to put the submarine into service in 2013. Subsequently, as the agency notes, the head of the Ministry of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov stated that the Alexander Nevsky would join the Pacific Fleet in 2014.

The first nuclear-powered icebreaker of Project 955 "Yuri Dolgoruky", the adoption of which was repeatedly postponed , as reported at Sevmash, is ready for acceptance. The exact timing of the submarine’s transfer to the fleet, however, has not been specified.

Project 955 Borei nuclear submarine cruisers will be armed with R-30 Bulava sea-based intercontinental ballistic missiles. The missile has successfully passed tests and will enter service at the same time as the Yuri Dolgoruky.

Currently, Sevmash also continues testing the nuclear submarine Severodvinsk, the lead ship of Project 885 Yasen. As Interfax reports , citing a representative of the plant, this is the first time that firing has been carried out from a submarine.
