Samutsevich may demand disbarment of former Pussy Riot defenders

Pussy Riot member Ekaterina Samutsevich, who was conditionally released by the Moscow City Court, may raise the issue of disbarring the former defenders of the girls from the punk group - Mark Feigin, Nikolai Polozov and Violetta Volkova, the Kommersant newspaper wrote on Tuesday.

Ekaterina Samutsevich may send a request to the Bar Association with a demand to debar Mark Feigin, Nikolai Polozov and Violetta Volkova. She refused Volkova’s services at the end of September, but she still has not returned her former client’s passport, keys to the apartment and the response received by the lawyers to their complaint to the ECHR, the publication notes.

Kommersant obtained an official letter from Samutsevich, sent on November 11 to three lawyers with a request to return the items by November 19. “Our request was not fulfilled - and we can complain to the city bar association. But this is an extreme measure that we would not like to take,” Samutsevich’s lawyer Sergei Badamshin told the newspaper.

At the beginning of November, a scandal related to the Pussy Riot brand broke out . The company of the wife of lawyer Mark Feigin filed an application with Rospatent to register the name of the punk band as a trademark under which it intends to produce clothes and toys. Ekaterina Samutsevich then declared the illegality of such use of the name of their non-profit project.
