Human rights activists said that unknown hooligans painted the inscription on the Memorial building in Moscow: “Foreign agent. I love USA.”
The incident occurred on the night of November 21, hooligans painted an inscription on the Memorial building in Maly Karetny Lane, Oleg Orlov, one of the leaders of Memorial, told Interfax on Wednesday.
“Next to the Memorial sign there were stickers with the text: “Foreign agent,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
“We have already filed a complaint with the Tverskoye police department. We ask that a criminal case be opened under the article ‘Vandalism,’” Orlov said.
Memorial believes that the attack by vandals was not accidental - on November 21, the law on “foreign agents” came into force. This law requires non-profit organizations that receive foreign grants to register as “foreign agents.”
