Mursi cut his powers

Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi, during a meeting with representatives of the country's highest judicial council, agreed to mitigate the provisions of the Constitutional Declaration, which gave him exceptional powers, reports Arab News on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Justice reported that Mursi agreed with the proposals of the highest court to remove the court immunity from the presidential decree. However, he upheld his powers on issues regarding the sovereignty of Egypt.

After Mursi and high -ranking judges came to a compromise, the president called for stopping the strike and returning to work.

Despite the decision of the Egyptian president, protests are still continuing in Cairo, Reuters reports . Their participants require the abolition of all provisions that provide the head of state extraordinary powers. At the same time, the opposition compares Mursi with Pharaoh and with the overthrown President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak.

Note that the performances of the Egyptians began on Friday after the day before Mursa issued a decree on the constitutional declaration. As a result of clashes between the police and the demonstrators, in which the supporters of the Islamist President also participated, one person died and more than 500 suffered .
