Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev said that the cost of construction of the Dzhubga - Sochi highway in the Krasnodar Territory is estimated at at least 300 billion rubles.

“After the Olympics in 2014, in the summer, all the forces that were at the Olympic construction site are transferred to the Dzhubga - Sochi route, and we begin to build it. There will be a complex road with a large number of tunnels, bridges and overpasses, ” Interfax quotes Tkachev .

According to the governor, a similar project for the construction of a modern highway exists for the section between Dzhubga and Novorossiysk.

“The road to Novorossiysk is the task of the next decade. But now the existing road here is being repaired,” said the head of the region.

A year ago, Tkachev noted that the federal highways Krasnodar - Novorossiysk and Dzhubga - Sochi were heavily overloaded.

“Multi-kilometer traffic jams and the highest accident rate are common here; there are many areas at risk of landslides,” said the governor.

The M-27 Dzhubga – Sochi highway, which is usually called the “Road to the Sea” because of its tourist focus, is now in satisfactory condition. In summer, the daily load on it is up to 45 thousand cars. Now the route is actively used by vehicles carrying cargo for the Olympic construction in Sochi. The route was designed and built according to the standards of the third technical category - these are roads with a lightweight surface (thinner asphalt), designed for light loads, with one lane in both directions. In many areas Dzhubga - Sochi is being intensively destroyed. In total, there are more than 30 sections of the route with a total length of over 8.6 km, where the threat of landslides remains constant.
