The founder of McAfee was arrested in Guatemala

Guatemala police arrested the 67-year-old founder of McAfee John Makafi, who is wanted in Belize on suspicion of killing a neighbor, reports Reuters . The information was confirmed by the official blog of John Makafi.

According to the blog entry, the famous programmer was arrested by a special police unit. The detention was shot in a video that will be published soon. The police tried to find and wake the judge so that John would not spend the night in the site. However, he was still placed under arrest, where the prisoners reacted to him "like a king." “He already managed to find friends in prison and distributed several autographs. John asked not to worry about him, ”the blog notes.

Guatemala formally arrested Makafi for illegally crossing the border, although on December 4 he asked for political asylum in this country. The issue of extradition is now being considered. Beliz's police did not put him on the international wanted list.

Recall that Makafi is suspected of killing a neighbor, a 52-year-old builder from the United States, Gregory Fall, with whom he had a stretched relationship. On November 11, Fall was found with a shot head in his own house.

Makafi himself claims that he was haunted by a certain influential politician of Beliza, whose campaign he refused to sponsor. On December 2, it was reported that he was arrested in Belize. John later admitted that he was trying to misinform Beliz's authorities.
