Interaction of Russians in the Tatar segment of the Internet

The most important achievement of information progress has been the Internet. Despite the absence of any clearly defined and tangible boundaries, the Internet is a rich ethnocultural mosaic, marked by both linguistic and sociocultural components. The report makes an attempt to develop general theoretical approaches to the study of national Internets, and, using the example of the Tatar Internet, to apply them in practice. Particular attention is paid to the function of the Russian language in different target segments of Tatnet.

Zufar Makhmutov Born in 1984 in Petropavlovsk (Kazakhstan). In 2006 he graduated with honors from the history department of Kazan State University. From 2006 to 2009, he completed full-time postgraduate studies at the Department of Ethnography and Archeology of KSU, in 2009 he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences on the topic: “Ethnic processes among the modern Tatar population of the North Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan” .

Since March 2010, he has been working as a junior researcher in the ethnology department of the Institute of History. Sh. Marjani AN RT. In 2011, he published the monograph “Tatars of the North Kazakhstan Region: History, Culture, Identity.”

Participant and coordinator of a number of research projects of the Russian Humanitarian Foundation in Kazakhstan: “Tatar population of Northern Kazakhstan”, “German population of Northern Kazakhstan”, “Tatar population of Kazakhstan”.
