It is curious that the region has already stepped on this “ one-armed rake ”. Five years ago, regional Duma deputies with almost the same leadership voted for the speedy adoption of a law banning gambling in the region.

Then they referred to the fact that receiving income from gambling dealers who ruin their own families is equivalent to receiving income from prostitution or child trafficking.

Perhaps it is just a coincidence that the proposal to officially allow the operation of underground casinos and player clubs was voiced by deputies after a high-ranking policeman, who was suspected of protecting “one-armed bandits,” left Kostroma.

Is there really no one to bring it in?

It may also be a coincidence that the cafe, owned by the family of one of the deputies, turned out to be repurposed as a more profitable business during the ban - a gambling club.

I cannot rule out the possibility that it is also a coincidence that after another deputy purchased an alcohol production plant, a “liquor lobby” unexpectedly formed in the Duma, which, under the auspices of replenishing the budget with excise taxes, allocated more than 50 million rubles from the regional budget to subsidize the vodka industry.

However, looking at all these accidents, I would no longer be surprised if tomorrow our deputies - of course, not for themselves, their loved ones, but only for the sake of replenishing the budget - propose to legalize coffee shops and child pornography in a particular region. And they will do this “solely for the benefit of the residents of the region”...
