“24 DOC: not a shame to watch”

A year ago, the documentary film channel 24 DOC began broadcasting

In the circle of cultural people there are three undeniable theses about modern television.

1. TV exists for cattle, there is zero information, entertainment is base. The content seems to be on purpose (or maybe even just on purpose) created in such a way as to stupefy, callous and corrupt.

2. Beautiful women on television are needed either to talk about the weather, or to set off men who formulate important meanings. However, both of them hit the telly, to put it mildly, in a piquant way.

3. A TV is a household appliance that does not deserve the personal attention of a modern person. The maximum to whom it can be turned on is housewives. The maximum for what is to brighten up loneliness while ironing children's little things or a man's shirt.

A year ago, a TV channel appeared in Russia, uncompromisingly destroying all these, we must agree, fair stereotypes.

24 DOC was created by two beautiful women: Vera Krichevskaya and Vera Obolonkina. They are so beautiful that they could just sit somewhere in Biarritz, by the ocean, on high chairs and drink a cocktail from a thin tube, while adding harmony to the world greatly. But they are amazing! - smart and active. You won't be able to calm down with such cocktails. Vera and Vera have created a channel like no other in our country. And it is not expected in the near future. The first thing you see is that their channel is really as beautiful and stylish as its parents. But this is if you just watch the picture, as our viewer is used to, without turning on the sound. An inquisitive person will not last so long. And once having turned up the volume, after a week or two, he will already catch himself on the fact that he again began to drunkenly watch TV. Because 24 DOC has something to watch. For people who still innocently believe that picture with sound can make sense, this year with 24 DOC has restored faith in ideals. The documentaries that Vera and Vera have chosen for their viewers may well replace news, analytical programs, talk shows, and even the notorious weather forecast. Because this is an actual movie. And it tells without distortion what is happening right now in the world, in the country, in us. From different points of view, in different languages, with different shades and semantic caesuras. In general, everything we love. "Well, what about the weather?" - you ask. And the weather is clearly visible behind the backs of those who present the best of the films on 24 DOC: all interviews are filmed a day or two before the show, they are also relevant, they are recorded here and now with people whose opinion can be trusted.

I know how Vera and Vera select these films for us: the two of them go to all the world's festivals, but they never go to the same film show together. So that, independently of each other, after watching a movie, discuss it later and choose the best pictures by voting. It's honest. Like everything else that happens on this channel. Even this amazing format - a good person retelling a good movie - does not look like a vulgar spoiler. But impressive: a vivid story, after which you certainly want to continue.

24 DOC instilled the belief that television can be both necessary and useful. Now it is not at all a shame to watch it - of course, if it is tuned to the 24 DOC channel. Happy birthday, Vera! Well, with the faith of all of us!
