Galina Vishnevskaya died

Opera singer Galina Vishnevskaya died at the 87th year of her life. According to RIA Novosti, this was reported in the press service of the Center for Opera Singing Vishnevskaya.

Galina Pavlovna Vishnevskaya was born on October 25, 1926 in Leningrad. She survived the blockade, at the age of 16 she served in parts of the air defense, was awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad."

From 1944 to 1951 she worked at the Leningrad Regional Operetta Theater - first in the choir, then began to fulfill solo parties. Having left the Operetta Theater, Vishnevskaya began to take singing lessons, and in 1952, despite the lack of conservative education, she was accepted into the internship group of the Bolshoi Theater, where he later became a leading soloist.

Among the parties that she performed in this theater-Tatyana in Evgenia Onegin, Lisa in the "Queen of Spades", Kupava in "Snegurochka", Donna Anna in "Stone Gosten", Aida in the Opera Opera of the same name (in this party in 1962, Vishnevskaya debuted at the Kovent-Garden theater), "Madame" and Madam Butterfly ".

In 1955 she married the cellist Mstislav Rostropovich.

From 1974 to 1982, Vishnevskaya and Rostropovich had to leave Russia - they were persecuted by the authorities to support Alexander Solzhenitsyn (from 1978 to 1990, Vishnevskaya was devoid of Soviet citizenship). During these years, the singer lived in the USA, in France and performed in the largest theaters in the world, and also staged opera performances as a director.

In 2002, the center of opera singing Galina Vishnevskaya in Moscow opened. Since 2006, the open international competition of opera artists Vishnevskaya began to be held, where the singer headed the jury.
