The authorities of St. Petersburg agreed on the march of freedom

The authorities of St. Petersburg agreed on the opposition march of freedom, scheduled for December 15. According to ITAR-TASS, one of the organizers of the campaign, a member of the Coordinating Council of the opposition Andrei Pivovarov, the procession will pass from the Gorkovskaya metro station to Marsov Paul.

All opposition organizations of the city are invited to participate in the march. The organizing committee hopes that the action will collect 5 thousand people. It is this number that is indicated in the application.

According to Pivovarov, the procession in the northern capital will be held under the same slogans as in Moscow. At the same time, the organizers intend to completely abandon political symbols - it is supposed to come out only with the flags of Russia and St. Petersburg. Thus, the oppositionist explained, "we will finally be able to remove the problem with political symbols." Previously, on general citizens, the use of flags of certain parties and movements often led to conflicts.

Initially, the organizing committee proposed to the administration of St. Petersburg two options for the route: the first - from the Oktyabrsky BKZ along Zhukovsky Street, Liteiny Prospekt and further to the art area, the second from Belinsky Street Fontanka and Sink to Konyushenny Square. However, the city committee on legality and law and order rejected both options. As a result, the opposition agreed to the route proposed by the administration, - as Pivovarov explained "to hold an event in the city center."

The route of a similar Moscow campaign has not yet been agreed. On the evening of December 10, CSR members Mikhail Gelfand, Gennady Gudkov and Vladimir Thor during many hours of negotiations in the capital's city hall could not reach a compromise. Oppositionists insist on the procession to Lubyanskaya Square. Officials suggest holding a march from Pushkinskaya Square to Sakharov Avenue.
