Ravi Shankar made a great contribution to the popularization of Indian classical music in the West. The lessons of the game on Sitar were taken from him by the former guitarist of Beatles, George Harrison. He later called Shankar the "godfather of world music" and became his close friend. The press called the composer "Indian Mozart." Shankar is the owner of many prestigious musical awards, including three Grammy awards.
