Solar superstorm or real apocalypse

The more we depend on information technology and electricity, the more defenseless our civilization is. We are moving by leaps and bounds towards complete collapse, but no one seems to care. Nobody pays attention to the warnings of specialists and scientists. There is no backup plan.

On August 28, 1859, as soon as night fell on the American continents, ghostly reflections of the aurora began to shine everywhere. All the next day, telegraph operators in Baltimore worked from eight in the morning until ten at night to transmit the printed text, consisting of only four hundred words.

Just after noon on September 1, English astronomer Richard Carrington sketched a group of sunspots of unusually large size. At 23:18, the scientist witnessed an intense white glow from two directions of sunspot localization. He tried in vain to attract the attention of anyone in the observatory to this amazing five-minute performance - solitary astronomers rarely find an audience that shares their enthusiasm. 17 hours later, across the Americas, a second wave of aurora turned night into day, even as far south as Panama. Newspapers reported reports of a crimson and green glow. Gold miners in the Rocky Mountains woke up and ate breakfast at one o'clock in the morning, thinking that the Sun had already risen in the cloudy sky. Telegraph systems stopped working in Europe and North America.

Now imagine that a similar phenomenon will happen in our time (and it will definitely happen, everything is cyclical). The sun can destroy all electronics in a few minutes ( geomagnetic storm ). If such a storm occurs, modern civilization will end. There will be nothing of what we are used to. Television, radio, internet, electricity. It will be possible to forget about satellites for decades. Modern houses (cities) will be empty. In order to provide them with water and heat, electricity is needed. Almost all transformers will burn out. To make new ones, factories are needed. But everything will burn on them too. All databases, all electronic libraries will be erased. The banking system will cease to exist. Money will disappear. All electronics, televisions, computers, refrigerators, cellular networks - everything will be disabled. All modern cars will become pieces of iron; without a control computer they will not be able to function. Oil and gas will cease to be produced, since this also requires electricity. Poultry farms and farms will not be able to meet the needs of the population without energy. Transport will stop. Refrigerators are needed to store food, but they will not work. Mass famine will begin. The population will not know what to do, warning systems will be disabled. No communication, no food, no heat, no electricity. Of the information about modern civilization, only books will remain, and even then only those that will not be allowed for heating. The professions of lawyers, accountants and other managers will disappear for centuries. Robberies will begin, looting will be rampant. Human rights and other “remnants of the past” will not be taken seriously by anyone; the strongest will survive. The surviving population will move into the forests and begin to rebuild abandoned villages. Industrial society will become agrarian. Hunting, fishing, farming. Fights will begin for houses with stove heating. Mass starvation and death will lead to the outbreak of epidemics. Drug production will cease. High-tech equipment will turn into useless hardware. Craftsmen who can at least do something with their hands, and specialists who understand electrical engineering will be in great demand. The military, as the most prepared for such circumstances, having a supply of food and weapons, will become the basis of a new order (or chaos).

And all this can happen at any second...
