1797. Henry Heine was born

On December 13, 1797, 215 years ago, the great German poet Henry (Harry) Heine was born. In 1825, before receiving a doctoral diploma, he was forced to move from Judaism to Lutheranism, since only Christians were given a diploma. Heine was a distant relative of Karl Marx on the maternal line and sympathized with the revolutionary movement. He wrote: “I have never attached great importance to the glory of the poet, and it is little worried about whether my songs are praised or condemned. But on my coffin you must lay down a sword, for I was a brave soldier in the war for the liberation of mankind! ”
