First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov considers the current privatization procedure adequate and sees no point in changing its regulatory framework.

“All procedures are now enshrined in federal laws, presidential decrees and government decisions. I am sure that such a regulatory framework is adequate to what should happen in privatization in the coming years; it seems to me that there is no point in strengthening it,” Interfax quotes Shuvalov .

It is worth noting that a day earlier, the Kommersant newspaper reported that the State Legal Administration of the President proposed returning to Head of State Vladimir Putin the powers of the first President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, over direct state property, including privatization through presidential decrees.

As the publication reported, for this purpose the GPU prepared the necessary amendments to the legislation and on November 15 submitted them for approval to the head of the government apparatus, Vladislav Surkov.

As Shuvalov said, it makes no sense to change the regulations, since in any case the most important assets will be sold in consultation with the presidential administration.

“It seems to me that there is no need for any additional acts,” he said.

“Whatever the president’s decision on how the privatization process will develop, we will implement it in any case,” Shuvalov assured, noting that the current legal framework for privatization meets the interests of transparency of this process. Among other things, it ensures the selection of investment consultants on a competitive basis so that these services are provided with the involvement of the public, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Shuvalov sees no point in giving Putin control over privatization
