We believe that this “argument” was taken by Machnev “out of thin air” and has no real basis. Moreover, it (this “argument”) has no real basis in relation to North Ossetia. ! In exactly the same way, his (Machnev’s) “argument” that direct elections incited inter-regional discord and someone (?!) is “inflaming conflicts on religious and national grounds” has no real basis in relation to North Ossetia. This was not the case in RNO-A before, and it is not the case today. We have already had to state this publicly and are forced to repeat: we are categorically against the fact that in the republics of the North Caucasus, on the basis of nationality, but in fact under a far-fetched pretext (read: “grounds”), they canceled the newly returned ones (due to vital necessity(! ) direct, popular elections of regional heads! We are categorically against such infringement, moreover, the violation of the fundamental constitutional rights and freedoms of Russians on a national basis. We have always believed and believe today that “A return to direct, popular elections of regional heads is a vital necessity! " Yes, this is the only way to “force” governors to work effectively. And the fact that this is exactly the case has been clearly proven in recent years, when direct popular elections of regional heads have been abolished in Russia.
