The BBG Council under the Government of the United States intends to inspect the work of the Russian editorial office of Radio Liberty after sharp criticism from the human rights organization Freedom House.

On Thursday, the head of Freedom House David Kramer spoke disapprovingly about the reform of the Russian editorial office of Radio Liberty, in particular that the president of Radio Liberty/Free Europe, Stephen Corn, harmed the media, "more than Putin," the Russian Air Force service reports.

The acting chairman of the Council, Michael Linton, announced the beginning of a six -month check of the editorial office under the leadership of Masha Hessen, who officially headed the editorial office on October 1. The appointment became known earlier than this date, and in September, mass dismissals were held in the Russian Service of Freedom. Hessen claimed that this decision was made without her participation.

The BBG commission expressed concern in connection with the fall in the attendance of the Svobata site by 50% in two months.

The journalists fired from Freedom launched their project “Freedom in Exile” , where they report that, among other things, at the meeting they called for the restoration of employees of the Moscow Bureau dismissed in September this year.
