"Freedom March" with a view of the Lubyanka

To be honest, I didn’t intend to go to this march at first. Just when I thought that Bykov, Sobchak and some other comrades from the Constitutional Court would be there, all desire immediately disappeared, just completely.

And then I decided - why should I now not see a century of freedom because of these talkers?! Never mind them! And he went. It became somehow awkward to sit at home. And I saw a quite nice picture there, although a lot of disgusting lies had already been told on the radio and TV about this rally. Don’t believe me, there was nothing terrible there, so people were scared in vain. If you sit at home, fear everything and wait for decent leaders, things won’t get any better. It’s somehow awkward: half of the rally participants are journalists, and the second are very young boys who, without fear, fought off their friends from the riot police. Where are the rest of the men? Are you stocking up on vodka for the New Year?

I remember in my class there was a poster with such a beautiful slogan: “Only he is worthy of happiness and freedom who goes to fight for them every day!” When we were young, we thought that this was just propaganda, and therefore we didn’t really get it. And then it turned out that Goethe said it, the great poet and all that, so it’s worth listening. What do you think?
