
In Moscow, it is not excluded that in the future, Russian border guards can be sent to the Tajik-Afghan border. True, for this it is necessary that the corresponding request receives from Tajikistan, Igor Lyakin-Frolov, Interfax, told Interfax at the CSTO.
He recalled that recently the Russian Federation and Tajikistan ratified the cooperation agreement in the field of border protection. “It provides for specific areas of interaction of assistance to Tajikistan in strengthening borders. A large group of Russian experts is located in Tajikistan to strengthen this agreement,” the official noted. “If the Tajik side addresses us, this issue could probably be considered. The initiative should come from the Tajik colleagues.”
In addition, according to Lyakin-Frolov, "the strengthening of the technical equipment of borders, material and technical support of the Tajik border guards could play a big role."
