Belgorod ex-policeman who broke the arm of a young man will spend more than a year in prison
A court in the Belgorod region found a former employee of the private security department at the Department of Internal Affairs for the city of Valuyki and Valuysky district guilty of causing grievous bodily harm through negligence and abuse of power with the use of violence.
The investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the region reported on Monday that in May last year, a policeman-driver of the private security department, while on patrol as part of a squad, Gennady Krasnikov noticed a group of young people on the street.
As the court found, the policeman suggested that one of them get into an official car and go to the hospital to undergo a medical examination to draw up an administrative protocol. In response, the young man asked the law enforcement officer to show his identification and explain the reason for the arrest.
“Outraged by the behavior of the young man, G. Krasnikov used physical force against him,” the report says.
As a result, the victim suffered a fracture of the humerus, which is classified as serious harm to health.
The court sentenced G. Krasnikov to 1 year and 2 months of imprisonment in a general regime colony with deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies for a period of 2 years.
