Hundreds of Russian tourists were forced to extend their vacation in the Indian state of Goa due to the cessation of the activities of the Kuban airline, Interfax reported on Wednesday, December 19 . According to local media, at least 300 Russians were forced to extend their vacation in India. They ended up spending about a month in the country.

Half of the tourists flew home on December 17 and 19, and the other half will leave for their homeland in the near future. The difficulties with sending Russians home are explained by the fact that, according to the aviation rules in force in India, only the carrier that brought them can take out foreign tourists who have arrived by charter. The Russian Consulate General in Mumbai has obtained permission from the Indian Department of Civil Aviation to use aircraft of other airlines. As a result, the Russians are sent home on a Rusline flight.

Kuban announced the end of its operations on December 11, citing a difficult financial situation and the inability to comply with a number of new federal aviation regulations. In particular, Kuban operated six airliners, while according to the new rules, the air carrier’s fleet must include at least eight aircraft with a capacity of 55 or more passenger seats. The company asked the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory to declare it bankrupt.
