RGTEU students suspended the strike

Students of the Russian State Trade and Economic University, striking against the planned reorganization of the university, decided to suspend the action. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the chairman of the Russian Student Union Artem Khromov. Students have information that their requirements can be fulfilled in the near future.

"Due to the fact that the State Duma has decided yesterday to stabilize the situation with the monitoring of university inefficiency, as well as checking the reasons for the RGTEU on the list, the students decided to stop the strike," Khromov said. According to him, strikers intend to resume the action if the requirements are not met.

On Wednesday, State Duma deputies appealed to the government with a request to tell about the measures taken to stabilize the situation in the RGTEU. Members of the Lower Chamber supported the corresponding protocol order by the Education Committee, introduced by the Communist Party Deputy Vasily Ikonnikov. The chairman of the committee Alexander Degtyarev is sure that the fears of students are in vain and reorganization of the RGTEU. "Nothing will happen to RGTEU. This university has very serious merits to our professional community. I think that there will be authoritative leaders who can clearly explain this," he said.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Science does not intend to abandon plans to reorganize the university. The director of the Department of Additional Education of Children, Education and Youth Policy, Alexander Strazze, said that the desire of students of the RGTEU to preserve the university in the form and content in which it exists today cannot be supported. “Definitely, the students of the RGTEU, who will continue to study after the reorganization of the university, will graduate from a stronger university and receive a crust of the university, which they have not even dreamed of, but this is the subject of the ministry,” he said.

In the morning, on Wednesday, the striking students of the Russian State Trade and Economic University negotiated the Ministry of Education officials, among whom was Stizze. An agreement was reached on the meeting of students with the head of the department Dmitry Livanov. Also, employees of the Ministry promised to redescribe to monitoring data, which recognized RGTEU in an ineffective university. RGTEU students insist that monitoring was carried out on the basis of inaccurate information.

The strike took place since the evening of Tuesday. According to Lenta.ru, in the university building they remained with the permission of the rector of the politician Sergei Baburin. He said that he sincerely supported the initiative of students. During the action, hundreds of people listened to the speeches of journalist Mikhail Leontyev, one of the leaders of the movement "Russian" Alexander Belov (Potkin), deputy Dmitry Gudkov, coordinator of the left front Sergey Udaltsov, and then danced and watched cinema. The “strike” in this format was proposed by the university teacher Ivan Mironov, who was previously accused of attempt on Anatoly Chubais in the case of Vladimir Kvachkov.

Previously, Baburin made an open letter to the president. He wrote about gross distortions, which, in his opinion, took place during monitoring, and asked to intervene in the situation.
