The Moscow prosecutor's office approved the indictment and transferred to court a criminal case against 56-year-old businessman Viktor Baturin, brother-in-law of former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov.

He is accused of committing under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale) and Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud on an especially large scale).

According to investigators, on May 20, 2011, Baturin deceived a businessman he knew by borrowing 250 thousand euros from him, which he did not intend to return. On September 28 and 29, 2011, at the offices of Inteko CJSC, he presented for payment obviously forged bills totaling 5.6 billion rubles, but did not manage to receive the money because he was detained. Baturin himself has been under arrest for several months.

Previously, Baturin was convicted of fraud in the sale of real estate, which caused damage to the victim in the amount of $1.5 million, the prosecutor’s office recalls . In June 2011, the Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced the entrepreneur to three years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of three years and a fine of 300 thousand rubles.
