
Two impudent robberies were made on the eve of the USA and Ukraine. In both cases, Orthodox institutions were injured.
In Los Angeles (USA), unknowners robbed the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad (ROCS). Thieves abducted many objects of church utensils, including liturgical vessels and an attic cross. The preliminary estimated cost of stolen things exceeds 50 thousand dollars, the Interfax agency said on Wednesday with reference to the information of the Moscow Patriarchate website.
Currently, the American police are investigating this crime.
And in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, criminals on the night of December 25 defeated the window and stole values from the church shop located on the territory of the monastery. The damage is estimated in the amount of more than 70 thousand hryvnias.
“Thieves have not yet been found, but the investigative department of the Pechersk police began a pre -trial investigation,” Interfax quotes the words of the source of the Kyiv newspaper today to local law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, the laurel noted that the attackers entered the refectory church and took icons, crosses and chains. At the same time, none of the ancient relics disappeared.
