Here director Govorukhin plucked up courage and was even slightly offended by President Putin for granting Russian citizenship to actor Depardieu. What terrible news, it’s just number one, everyone is talking about it, as if nothing good has ever happened to us. But a lot of good things happened: prosecutors, for example, got an increase in their salaries, and they didn’t forget about us, they raised our prices for almost everything, and soon they will raise them for the rest as well. But this doesn’t bother my fellow citizens; everyone is worried about their favorite director.
Although I don't really understand what to worry about. Now, if director Govorukhin were a visiting film guest worker without citizenship, then it would be understandable. But he probably has Russian citizenship; surely a person without a native passport could head the presidential campaign headquarters?!
This means it’s just jealousy of the new favorite, which is completely surprising. After all, before becoming Putin’s confidant, Govorukhin made films, probably also read books, so he should know palace morals at least from novels. And morals in high society are very fickle - today the leading roles are played by some Mademoiselle de La Vallière, and tomorrow by some Depardieu, even though his “de” is spelled together with his last name.
So now Govorukhin, who has no “de” at all, has only two options - either rethink the Russian classics, which are about lordly anger and lordly love, or with a furious cry “You can’t live like that - 2,” put on a white ribbon and join opposition.
Or you can just wipe yourself off, which, apparently, is what he will do.
