A fire occurred in a hospital in St. Petersburg due to the fault of a drunken patient, three died

A patient of the Pokrovskaya Hospital in St. Petersburg has been detained, allegedly through whose fault there was a fire in the medical facility that claimed the lives of three people.

On the night from Friday to Saturday, a fire occurred in the emergency room of the Pokrovskaya hospital in St. Petersburg, as a result of which three people died and two were hospitalized, according to the website of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the city.

To ensure public order while extinguishing the fire, two dozen police officers were sent to the scene, and the alleged culprit of the fire was detained - a 43-year-old hospital patient, a resident of St. Petersburg, working as a cleaner at one of the universities. According to the preliminary version, she, being drunk, smoked in the emergency room and threw an unextinguished cigarette into the mattresses folded in the utility room, which resulted in a fire, according to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing death by negligence”).
