The US administration considers the plan nominated by President Bashar Assad a plan to resolve the conflict in the country "a new attempt by the regime to maintain power." This was stated by the official representative of the American State Department Victoria Nuland.

Earlier on Sunday, January 6, Bashar al -Assad during the first seven months of public speech in Damascus put forward a plan for resolving the Syrian crisis by holding new elections in the country.

The plan, in particular, implies that voting organizes the coalition government, which will be formed according to the results of a comprehensive national dialogue. A universal amnesty will also be announced in Syria, a national charter guaranteeing the unity of the country and civil consent is prepared and put forward to the referendum.

The most important condition for the implementation of the transition period Assad called "the cessation of international and regional support of armed groups that act through the boundaries of neighboring states."

"As soon as military operations are stopped, the Syrian army will cease to fire," the president said.

The leadership of the Syrian National Coalition of the opposition and revolutionary forces (Nurses) immediately rejected the president’s initiative. According to the Deputy Head of Nurses Suheir al-Attasi, the plan “aimed at disrupting the diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Syria” put forward by Assad. “This is not an initiative, but a political maneuver in order to win time,” Al-Attasi said in an interview with Al-Jazeera.

About the same point of view was expressed by Victoria Nuland, ITAR-TASS notes. The representative of the American foreign policy, in particular, emphasized that the plan of Bashar al -Assad "does not lead to the goal of the Syrian people - the transfer of political power in the country."

These initiatives, in its expression, are "divorced from reality, undermine the efforts of the joint special representative of the UN and the League of the Arab states of Lahdara Brachimi, and allow the regime to continue the bloody suppression of the Syrian people."

Nuland emphasized that "the Assad regime is mocking his own people for almost two years." Once again she repeated the position of Washington, according to which the Syrian president "lost legitimacy and should resign."

The representative of the State Department also assured that the United States "will continue its efforts to find a political solution to" the Syrian problem, in particular, within the framework of the Geneva agreements of the "group of actions". In addition, according to her, the United States will continue to maintain Lahdar's efforts with brachy to resolve the crisis.

According to the assessment of the Foreign Minister of Turkey Akhmet Davutoglu, Bashar Assad in his new peaceful initiative "repeated all the previous promises that were not schewed to him."
