In Volgograd, the deputy chairman of the regional government, Pavel Krupnov, was detained and taken into custody. As Ekho Moskvy reports , he is suspected of receiving a multimillion-dollar bribe while organizing the renovation of a regional oncology clinic.
According to official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia Vladimir Markin, as part of the investigation, the director of the state institution “Directorate for Construction and Major Repairs” Igor Pimkin and his deputy Alexey Kramarenko were also detained. They, like Krupnov, are accused of receiving a bribe.
This is not the first time that officials of the Volgograd region have found themselves at the center of a scandal. In April last year, information appeared in the media that they flew to Italian Tuscany to celebrate the birthday of Governor Sergei Bozhenov there. The officials were accused of doing this at the expense of the local budget. Later, the Volgograd governor explained that the trip was of a private, business nature.
