St. Petersburg police stopped a mass snowball fight that was supposed to take place on the Champ de Mars. The “Snow Battle” was announced via a social network page, attracting more than a thousand potential participants. A few minutes after it started, law enforcement officers arrived on the field.
They told those gathered that the action was not coordinated and the actions were illegal, and called on everyone to disperse. According to eyewitnesses , several young people who tried to explain that this was not a political action, but an ordinary flash mob, were detained. After this, the game ended, and its participants began to disperse.
The “Snow Battle” has been taking place in St. Petersburg for several years now, but before that the police did not pay attention to it.
In the summer of 2012, the organizers of the “battle” organized a “Pillow Fight” there, on the Champ de Mars. This action also resulted in arrests.
