The investment company GreenCrest Capital, which is studying the companies that are preparing for the IPO, at the beginning of 2013 rated the Twitter microblogs at $ 11 billion, Venture-news.ru reports.
The analyst of the investment company Max Wolf made such an assessment on the basis of information from secondary online trade, but he himself emphasizes that it is impossible to name the exact amount in this way.
In July 2011, Twitter was estimated at $ 8 billion. Then the DST GLOBAL Foundation, owned by Alisher Usmanov , acquired a 5% stake in the microblor service. The amount of the transaction amounted to $ 400 million. Based on the cost of a package of shares, the whole company was estimated at $ 8 billion. In addition, another $ 400 million was invested on Twitter with T Rowe Price and JPMorgan funds. The increase in the cost of the company over the past time has been influenced by an increase in the number of users, as well as the emergence of monetization tools.
It is expected that Twitter will begin preparations for IPO at the end of 2013, and the placement of shares will be held in 2014.
The Twitter service was launched in 2006 and already in 2010 was estimated at $ 3.7 billion. To date, the number of active Twitter users who enter the site at least once a month exceeds 100 million people, increasing by more than 80% since the beginning of 2011.
