Investigative authorities have ordered a pre-investigation investigation into the sudden death of a one-month-old baby in the Bratsk district of the Irkutsk region, the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee reported on Wednesday.
“The girl died on December 30, 2012. The parents attribute the child’s death to the body’s reaction to the vaccination that the nurse gave the baby a few hours before the tragedy,” the message says.
Investigators ordered a series of examinations to establish the exact cause of the baby's death. The drug that was administered to the child was withdrawn from the medical institution for research.
Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee are also establishing the causes of death of five more children who died over the past 10 days in cities and districts of the region.
Thus, on December 31, 2012, a 5-month-old boy died in the Ekhirit-Bulagat district. The preliminary cause is sudden infant death syndrome.
On January 1, a 9-month-old girl died in the city of Bratsk. On New Year's Eve, she and her mother were visiting. Waking up in the morning, the adults found the child dead. On the same day, a 1.5-month-old girl and a 5-month-old boy suddenly died in the Cheremkhovo and Zalarinsky districts.
On January 6, a newborn died in Irkutsk, in the city perinatal center. According to the investigation, the child was in the ward next to his mother.
In all these cases, the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee carry out pre-investigation checks.
It was previously reported that during the first day of 2013 in the Irkutsk region, six children aged from 1.5 months to 4 years died under various circumstances.
So, on the morning of January 1, the body of a 9-month-old girl without visible injuries was found in one of the apartments in the city of Bratsk. Similar cases occurred in the village of Kirzavod, Cheremkhovo district and the village of Bazhir, Zalarinsky district.
Two more children, 3 and 4 years old, were poisoned by carbon monoxide in the village of Biryulki, Kuchug district.
In addition, in the Ekhirit-Bulagat district, a 5-month-old boy died, who at the end of December was hospitalized at the request of PDN employees, however, a day later, the mother took her son from the hospital, thereby interrupting the treatment.
