The authorities of Chuvashia plan to create a unified system of water supply, sewerage, and wastewater treatment in Cheboksary and Novocheboksarsk.
The corresponding decree “On additional measures for the development of water supply and sanitation in the Chuvash Republic” was signed by the head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatiev, the press service of the head’s administration reports.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the republic needs to create the necessary conditions for this. In addition, according to the decree, a set of measures will be developed aimed at attracting investment in the development of municipal infrastructure systems in Chuvashia and an authorized executive body of the republic will be determined to approve investment programs of organizations engaged in water supply and (or) sanitation.
At the first stage, it is planned to corporatize the State Unitary Enterprise "Biological Treatment Plants" of the Ministry of Construction of Chuvashia and the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Utility Networks of Novocheboksarsk", after which they are expected to merge with the Cheboksary OJSC "Vodokanal".
“The decision to create a unified water supply and sanitation system in the two largest cities of the republic is long overdue, and in connection with the construction of the New City (a new municipal entity that will link Cheboksary and Novocheboksarsk together), this topic has acquired particular relevance,” the message quotes the words of the chairman of the cabinet Ministers of Chuvashia Ivan Motorin.
M. Ignatiev instructed the government of the republic and the administrations of Cheboksary and Novocheboksarsk to carefully study organizational issues in order to minimize costs that may arise during the reorganization process.
