“It has been established that the dead are a 58-year-old woman and her 16-year-old granddaughter, who lived in one of the affected apartments,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
She noted that forensic medical examinations of the bodies of the dead will be carried out to establish the cause of death. In addition, a fire engineering examination has been appointed in the case, which will establish the cause and source of the fire.
A gas cylinder, which presumably exploded the day before, will also be examined by experts to determine the cause of the depressurization.
N. Ananyeva also reported that the investigator in the case questioned 9 people, including eyewitnesses, residents of the house, and neighbors of the victims. There are still 8 people hospitalized, two of whom are in serious condition.
As reported, on the morning of January 8, a propane tank exploded on the seventh floor of a nine-story building in the Ordzhonikidze district of Novokuznetsk, resulting in a fire. The victims of the explosion were a woman and a four-year-old child, eight more people, including three children aged 7 and 11, were injured. Three people were hospitalized in serious condition. Two neighboring apartments were damaged.
By order of the head of the region, a large-scale inspection of gasified buildings, as well as the identification of unauthorized gas cylinders, began in the region.
